So… uh… heyyyyy.
Contrary to what my sudden, unannounced disappearance from the blogosphere might imply, I am actually alive! I’ve just been very busy. Doing a whole lot of things. Here are some of those things that I did in 2013:
I opened a moderately successful Etsy shop.
I moved to Brooklyn, becoming even more of a living, breathing hipster stereotype than I was before.
I went to South America for the first time!
My dog started a blog that’s more popular than my blog.
I started grad school because who needs sleep when you can have an MFA?
I made SO MANY THINGS.
I dressed as a kangaroo.
I did not… sleep enough. No wonder I’m so tired.
Happy New Year, all four of you who actually read this blog!
Oh hey, look at this fancy pants NYC Subway map designed by Max Roberts, a psychologist at the University of Essex:
It’s similar to a London Tube map he designed earlier this year, also based off of concentric circles. Looks cool, right? Some people seem to take major issue with the geographic inaccuracy, but Massimo Vignelli’s 1972 Subway Map (so beloved by us design folk!) is anything but spatially accurate, sooo… what way do we want it, people? Form or utilitarian function?
Terrance the Dog has a Tumblr now. He’s very social media-savvy and he hates you. Really, really hates you. It’s nothing personal, he just has a lot of feelings… sorry (no, he’s not sorry).
It’s true… I’m 25 years old and as much of a Harry Potter fan as I was at 12. No shame, though… I fly my Harry Potter freak flag high and proud for the world to see. Which is why I was SUPER EXCITED to see these previously unpublished Harry Potter illustrations by Mary GrandPré posted on Design Taxi the other day. They’re all beautiful (all in the vein of her fabulous cover art) and if you’re a nerd like I am you’ll probably love them too. Here’s a selection… enjoy!
I’m back from Peru! My trip was wonderful and far too short, and I wish I was still there. Oh, what’s that? You wish YOU were there too? How lucky that I photographed everything we did and saw so that people can live vicariously through my Instagram feed whether they want to or not! HERE WE GO.
So I’ve been blogging sparingly for the past month or so… many apologies, I’ve been busier than the busiest bee. Since sharing is good, I thought I’d share one of the projects that’s been occupying my time lately. Look at this fancy pants animation I made!
This is an old one but a good one. Terrance was on some doggy meds when he had a bad cough a while back. He was… drowsy…
